About Northwest Alabama Mental Health Center – Hamilton
Northwest Alabama Mental Health Center (NAMHC) is a public non-profit organization that serves five counties in Alabama: Fayette, Marion, Lamar, Walker and Winston Counties. The center provides extensive substance use disorder services in all counties along with educational programs and anger management training. Services include outpatient and inpatient support for adults and adolescents.
Both adolescents and adults can access NAMHC’s outpatient treatment. Along with crisis intervention support, this also includes screening and assessment, medication assisted treatment (MAT), group and individual therapy and mental health care. People with more severe addiction may be referred to detoxification or residential treatment first.
Short Term Adolescent Residential Treatment (START) is an intensive program that is designed for young girls. The program has 16 beds and is a drug rehabilitation center based in Fayette County. Individuals between ages 13 and 18 are eligible to participate in this supervised treatment home.
The immersive program promotes personal responsibility and encourages group and individual therapy participation. START combines clinical services with family therapy and drug education, promotes basic living skills, and creates a well rounded environment complete with recreational activities to provide positive enrichment. This program also includes academic education so participants don’t fall behind while enrolled.
If you’re having trouble affording the treatment you need, NAMHC has a sliding fee scale. Based on your income and family size they can provide treatment at a price you can afford.
