About Northwest Human Service Center – Williston
Northwest Human Service Center is part of the North Dakota Health and Human Services network. It’s one of eight such centers, with this location in Williston, North Dakota. The center was established in 1971 as a demonstration project and placed under state control in 1982.
This center provides behavioral health services including 24-hour behavioral health crisis help. Walk in assessments are provided with no appointment necessary Monday through Friday during business hours. You ask the triage specialist for a behavioral health assessment. If your assessment determines that you have acute and severe symptoms, you are offered services immediately.
Others may be asked to wait one to several days to begin receiving care. If the wait time is too long, you might be referred to a community service provider. Your program uses a multidisciplinary team approach including psychiatry, psychology, social work, case management, nursing, and more.
Some services within your treatment plan may be provided by outside contractors. For example, they help you to connect with community-based services when you are part of the criminal justice system or they provide a voucher to help reduce the barriers to treatment for substance use disorders.
The voucher program uses state funds that were set aside by the legislature to increase access to evidence-based services and focus on underserved areas and programs. To take part in the voucher program, you must have applied for Medicaid to receive the voucher. Vouchers are available to residents of North Dakota who are 12 years and older and lack the resources to cover the cost of treatment.
They work with a network of treatment, recovery, and support resources in the area to ensure that you have the tools you need to receive treatment. They also provide free Narcan kits, also called naloxone. And they encourage you to report if you have used Narcan on a friend or family member and saved their life.
They support peer support specialists who can work with you to become and stay engaged in the recovery process by sharing their life experiences. They offer training opportunities and certification and recertification for peer support specialists.
Their mission is to provide quality and effective services to the community that improve your life. They’re committed to providing care and offer a sliding scale fee schedule based on your income.
