About Northwestern Community Services – Front Royal
Serving Frederick, Clarke, Warren, Shenandoah, and Page counties, Northwestern Community Services in Front Royal, Virginia, offers behavioral health services. They treat mental illness, substance use, intellectual and developmental disabilities and emotional or behavioral disorders. Their substance abuse levels of care include intensive outpatient, medication assisted treatment and a program for substance exposed infants and their parents.
Their intensive outpatient program groups meet three times each week for three hours. You’ll get at least nine weekly treatment hours in this program. This will include a mix of group and individual counseling and recovery skills groups. Some groups are gender specific. You’ll learn how to problem solve, reframe negative thoughts, manage your stress and deal with triggers.
Their medication assisted treatment program begins with a medical assessment with a physician. Then once you’ve begun treatment you’ll have follow-up appointments to receive your doses. You’ll also participate in counseling with a licensed therapist or clinician. These appointments might be weekly or bi-weekly depending on your needs.
One of the services that this facility offers that I really appreciate is their peer resource center. This free service is a hub to connect with your peers and get support, practice the skills you’re learning in your treatment, and join in activities. There’s also a computer lab and other resources such as books, movies and more for you to enjoy. This center is open to the public – even if you aren’t a Northwestern client.
