About Nystrom & Associates – New Brighton – Saint Paul
Nystrom and Associates have clinics in five states and multiple clinics in Minnesota, including the site on Silver Lake Road in New Brighton. Their New Brighton location offers substance use disorder treatment as well as treatment for co-occurring disorders.
They accept most insurance, including from companies such as Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, and many others. They also accept Medicare and Medicaid.
The substance use treatment program is for adolescents ages 12-18 and adults 18 and up. The programs are outpatient and licensed by the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS). The program includes drug screening, peer led alumni support groups, and care coordination. You’ll also have group and individual counseling. You’ll meet with a licensed alcohol and drug treatment counselor (LADC) and the counselor will be your main point of contact throughout your program.
You’ll have an individualized plan using evidence based treatment. Some of the therapies they use are cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and 12 Step education.
There’s an intensive outpatient program (IOP) that offers three sessions of group therapy that run four hours each per week. They also have one one-hour individual substance use counseling session each week. Most people are in the program for about 10 weeks.
The less intensive outpatient program offers one four-hour session of group therapy per week. You’ll have one one-hour individual counseling session per week. This program also runs about 10 weeks but the length of both programs depends on your progress.
In both substance use treatment programs, you’ll get help and support for any co-occurring disorders. A few examples of a co-occurring disorder are anxiety, depression, or bipolar disorder.
If you need medication for a co-occurring disorder, you can see one of the psychiatrists who specialize in the medical aspects of your care. The psychiatrists can assess your lab work, prescribe medications, and coordinate your care with other providers.
