About Okaloosa Outpatient Center – Fort Walton Beach
The Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital has satellite outpatient treatment centers, including the Okaloosa Outpatient Center at 2004 Lewis Turner Boulevard in Fort Walton Beach. Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital offers psychiatric care in Florida, including inpatient and outpatient treatment. The Okaloosa Outpatient Center offers treatment for mental health and substance use (SUD) disorders. It’s convenient that they accept Managed Medicaid, Medicare, TRICARE and most major commercial insurance plans.
The adult outpatient program provides treatment programs for clients with addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders. Their programs include a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and an intensive outpatient program (IOP).
The PHP meets five days a week for six hours each day. I think clients will appreciate the $10 stipend for lunch. The day-long program includes therapy and education.
Depending on your needs, the IOP meets three or five days a week. The sessions are shorter than the PHP at only three hours. This is a flexible program because you can choose morning or afternoon sessions. This gives you time to attend school or work but still receive intensive treatment.
You’ll participate in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) as well as process group therapy. The therapies work synergistically to help you identify underlying mental health issues, process them and gain perspective on your condition. The treatment helps clients with SUD, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety and other mental health disorders.
The outpatient clinic also provides treatment for adolescents ages 12-17. They’ll treat 18 year olds as long as they’re still attending high school. The adolescent program offers afternoon treatment sessions so teens don’t have to worry about missing classes.
Groups meet Monday through Thursday. The teens work in small groups of 12 or less. There are also customized group sessions based on individual needs. Some of the tailored therapy sessions include topics such as conflict resolution, mindfulness techniques and expressive therapy with music and art.
