About On Belay House – Eden Prairie
On Belay House in Eden Prairie, Minnesota was a 16 bed all female residential addiction treatment facility for adolescents. Their treatment team was made up of licensed clinical psychologists, master’s level clinicians, and a registered nurse. The services the program offered included counseling, case management services and education provided through District 287.
The residential facility understood that not all clients recover at the same pace. Clients had different options for how long they could stay in the program. The timelines ranged from 45 to 60 days for primary treatment and 60 to 120 for extended care. The staff determined with the client how long they should stay in the facility based on environmental issues, clinical needs and legal requirements.
A unique service that was offered at this facility was therapeutic passes. It could be given to clients based on their progress in treatment. These passes allowed patients to be away from the facility for a specific amount of time. It was an opportunity for clients to spend time outside of the facility doing fun activities, such as spending a day on the beach at Bryant Lake Regional Park.
Additional services offered at the residential facility included life skills development and family educational programs. Learning life skills could help adolescent clients develop a higher self esteem and be more confident in pursuing their recovery. Some of the life skills they may have learned about could have included stress management, decision making and assertiveness.
