About One Eighty – Davenport
One Eighty in Davenport, Iowa, is engaged with the Quad City community, helping individuals live free from addiction and poverty. Their mission is to invest in healthy relationships with a focus on encountering Christ. Their 14-month residential program is designed for men and women who are experiencing addiction, including those who are incarcerated. The program is not easy, but it’s built for people who want to change their lives.
You earn increasing levels of independence as you work through their program that provides housing and basic needs, including medical and dental care. Within the program they help you prepare for future employment through career training to build skills and references. After you complete the training they also help you find a job. You have coaching from a case manager and other people who have been through recovery. Treatment takes place in a family-like atmosphere where you share relationships with others.
Life skills classes teach you budgeting, nutrition, communication, relationships and self care. Support groups work on recovery skills and help you heal from trauma, while spiritual classes and Bible studies help you stay grounded in God. You have an opportunity to develop a new sober identity that includes positive thinking, patience and purpose. After graduation you also have access to long term sober living.
To be accepted into the program you must complete an application, and then a staff member will interview you. If you’re incarcerated they will visit the local jail. Acceptance into the program is based on several criteria including bed availability and whether you’re a fit with the existing community. The cost is free, and room rent is only charged when you have a job and income.
