About Oxford House – Chapel Hill – Chapel Hill
Oxford House – Chapel Hill is a men’s sober living facility located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. It is affiliated with Oxford Houses of North Carolina, a network of recovery residences that helps people in recovery move toward full independence following a substance use disorder (SUD) treatment program. Chapel Hill holds up to eight guests and is for men only.
Oxford Houses offer a unique solution for those in recovery who aren’t ready to live completely on their own yet. After completing an SUD treatment program or leaving a correctional facility, you can join an Oxford House to live with a community of people who understand your journey and can support you with compassion.
Oxford Houses are peer-driven and peer-managed, with a network of management and accountability that ensures each house complies with the values of Oxford House Inc. You’ll vote with your housemates every six months to elect a house officer. House officers from nearby locations will meet together every month to share updates, work through problems and escalate issues that require input from higher authorities.
As a resident of Chapel Hill, you’ll be expected to actively participate in a recovery program like the 12 Steps. And because each house is fully self-supporting, you’ll also be responsible for a portion of the house expenses. This bit of responsibility holds you accountable and incentivizes you to remain employed, while also giving you some breathing space because it’s shared equally between eight people in recovery.
