About Oxford House – Pembroke – Virginia Beach
Oxford House Pembroke in Virginia Beach, Virginia, is a self-run sober house for people recovering from addiction. Oxford Houses comprise a large network of sober living homes democratically run by each home’s residents.
Pembroke is located on Birch Bark Drive in the LynnHaven area of Virginia Beach. It’s in a quiet residential neighbourhood and car access is necessary to reach grocery stores and other amenities.
This sober house is for women only and can house eight residents at a time.
Like all Oxford Houses, you can live here as long as you wish. So long as you are following the house rules and staying sober, it’s not uncommon for people to reside in an Oxford House for 1-4 years. Some residents continue to be involved in outpatient treatment or AA/NA self-help groups.
Each Oxford House has their own way of doing things. Some share chores such as cooking and cleaning while others have each resident be responsible for their own spaces. It’s likely that you’ll join the other residents in a weekly meeting to discuss house business.
At Pembroke, interviews happen Mondays at 6pm. If you would like to get one of the spots in this residence, you’d call to set up an interview. House residents will interview you to decide if you are a good fit for the home.
