Pocono Mountain Recovery Center is a drug and alcohol rehab based in Henryville, Pennsylvania. The rustic, homey facility rests on 10 acres of sprawling countryside, surrounded by trees, lakes and walking trails. They offer residential addiction treatment, detox services, a partial hospitalization program and intensive outpatient services. They also have sober living facilities and an extensive aftercare program to help you transition from full time treatment into normal life. Their services are available to adults who are over the age of 18.
Their recovery process is largely based on the 12 Step principles, but it also makes use of traditional and experiential therapy methods. You’ll receive at least one hour-long individual therapy session each week, where you’ll work through the root causes of addictive behaviors and create goals for your recovery. You’ll also attend group sessions to develop coping skills, receive education on addiction and work on relapse prevention techniques. Pocono Mountain Recovery Center is big on getting your support system involved with your treatment, so they also facilitate family therapy sessions if you’d benefit from them.
During your stay, you can also participate in art therapy, music therapy, mindfulness and meditation sessions, yoga and role playing activities. These experiential methods help to round out your treatment plan so you’re tackling chemical dependency from every angle.
One thing I liked about their program is that they give you a lot of freedom in letting you customize your treatment plan. They have a bunch of elective activities you can choose to get involved with every day. They also set aside free time every day for you to partake in recreational activities or to reflect on everything you learned that day.
