About Pomerado Hospital – Poway
Pomerado Hospital, also known as Palomar Health Pomerado Poway is now closed but was located in Poway, California. It was a behavioral health unit that specialized in crisis intervention. They had 12 beds in their treatment center that offered psychiatric intensive care and crisis stabilization for those in need. Accredited by the Joint Commission, this was also a training treatment center for student nurses and psychology interns.
The facility was located near the Poway Center for the Performing Arts, the Potato Chip Rock Trailhead at Mount Woodson and Blue Sky Ecological Reserve. It should be noted that patients that were here at the time of closure were moved to the Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital. Officials say the plan is for Palomar Health to build a new 120-bed mental hospital in the San Dego area.
Here they had a multidisciplinary assessment and treatment system, and you would have been admitted either voluntarily or involuntarily. They provided medication management, and you could have received individual or group therapy. You could have also gotten individual and group psychotherapy along with recreation therapy, music and art therapy or pet therapy.
They encouraged family support through behavioral health education. They believed in a whole person wellness system and would provide referrals elsewhere if needed. They used a comprehensive discharge and aftercare planning system.
They accepted walk-ins, and their services were provided by funding from the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency. They accepted payments through Medicare and Medicaid.
