About PORT HEALTH | Greenville Facility Based Crisis Program – Greenville
PORT Health runs three facility based crisis units in eastern North Carolina, including a location in Greenville, North Carolina. These units help adults in crisis stabilize and recover in a safe, supportive environment. Most people at the unit are withdrawing from alcohol and drugs, need immediate mental health services, or are dealing with both. They accept appointments and walk ins and have 25 beds available. They accept self pay, Medicare, Medicaid, and most commercial insurance plans. Financial assistance is available.
When you first enter the unit, you’ll meet your team of medical and clinical experts. They’ll work with you individually to create a care plan that’s based on your needs. Their goal is to provide seamless care as you transition from crisis support to symptom management to detox and counseling. That’s why the three cornerstones of their approach are compassion, professionalism, and outcomes. They won’t stop once they help you stabilize and get your feet back under you. Instead, they’ll make sure you have access to the right people and programs that can help you recover for good.
Some of the services that are available here include group and individual counseling, life skills training, access to 12 step groups, recreational therapy, addiction education, and medication management.
The facility is in a non hospital setting, which means you’ll still have the comforts of home in a community environment. Most people stay here for about four to seven days, but you don’t have to follow a specific timeline. Your team will know what’s best for you and how long you should stay. While you’re in the program, you’ll meet with doctors who can provide medical, social, psychiatric, and psychological services. In addition to treating your immediate symptoms, they’ll also create a detailed plan for your recovery.
While one former client said this crisis unit helped them, another noted a breakdown in communication between the staff members and the people they serve.
