About Project Chesapeake – Waldorf
Located in Waldorf, Maryland, Project Chesapeake provides years of experience in the substance use treatment field to help individuals overcome addiction. Since 2104, they’ve offered traditional and intensive outpatient (IOP) substance abuse therapy for adults and adolescents. Additional services available include mental health therapy and domestic violence group therapy.
The traditional outpatient program will focus on education and relapse prevention. You’ll also learn about coping skills and how to develop a sober support network. The program typically lasts about 26 weeks if it’s deemed clinically appropriate.
Clients participating in the intensive outpatient program will have the option of doing morning or evening sessions. You’ll spend more hours at the facility in this program to participate in multiple group and individual sessions throughout the week. Clients who need assistance with managing their withdrawal symptoms can be prescribed buprenorphine as a part of medication assisted treatment.
Some clients who have substance use disorder may also have had issues with domestic abuse. Project Chesapeake offers individuals who’ve committed domestic violence counseling, education and rehabilitation.
It’s not uncommon for anger to be one of the causes of addiction for some individuals. The facility provides anger management classes to help you with your impulse control and your anger expression. Additional topics that the class focuses on are stress management skills and the capacity to acknowledge the effects of anger on others.
One benefit of being treated at the Waldorf location is that you’re just an hour away from Washington, D.C. You can spend time after your treatment sessions visiting various monuments and landmarks, such as the National Mall and the Lincoln Memorial. If you’re an older adult, the Waldorf Senior Center is one block over, or you can check out the local stadiums and parks.
