About Putnam Hospital, part of Nuvance Health – Carmel Hamlet
Now part of Nuvance Health, Putnam Hospital provides primary care and behavioral health care for children, teens, and adults in Carmel, New York. Their Behavioral Health Services Department offers inpatient treatment and a partial hospitalization program for clients with mood and anxiety disorders, substance abuse, and related conditions. They accept self pay, private insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid. They also offer financial assistance.
Their inpatient program is for clients who need immediate stabilization to keep themselves and others safe. This team can provide crisis intervention services like psychiatric evaluations, medication management, recreational therapy, and group therapy to help clients find relief and stability.
Once clients stabilize, they may move into the outpatient program, which allows them to attend treatment during the day and return home at night. The treatment plan they follow will be based on their own needs, but some of the services available here include individual and group counseling, classes related to addiction and recovery, social skills training, and dialectical behavioral therapy. If clients need to take medicine to treat their condition, they’ll work with a psychiatrist to manage those prescriptions. Most clients attend outpatient treatment five days a week for up to six weeks.
While some former clients rank this facility highly, one client was disappointed to find that their doctor left and they were never assigned to another provider. They wished patient loyalty was higher and urged for better communication.
