About Recovery Services of Northwest Ohio – Wauseon
Recovery Services of Northwest Ohio is a nonprofit organization that opened in 1975 and was formerly called Five County Alcohol/Drug Program. They have multiple locations, including the facility on Linfoot Street in Wauseon, Ohio. The Wauseon location offers outpatient services for substance use and mental health disorders. Staff will bill your insurance, and they take most commercial insurance. They also accept Medicare and Medicaid, and they offer a sliding fee scale for the uninsured.
The Wauseon clinic is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., but they also have evening hours available. You’ll first undergo a diagnostic assessment from a clinical professional to determine what substance use issues you have and whether you have a co-occurring mental health disorder. A co-occurring disorder is when you have an addiction along with a mental health disorder such as bipolar disorder, anxiety or depression. The assessment is for anyone ages four years old and up.
You can also meet one on one with a psychiatrist to determine whether you need medication management for mental health issues. Addressing your mental health issues is an important aspect of substance use recovery. Psychiatric medication management is available for those aged six years old and up.
They also offer case management services that are helpful for people with substance use and/or mental health disorders. Many people with co-occurring mental health disorders and substance use need assistance with integrating in the community and at work. A case manager helps you identify your needs and goals and helps you achieve them. For instance, you may need help securing employment or housing or living within a budget. The case manager will help you learn the skills you need to live a more independent, functional life.
While in the substance use program, you’ll have regular drug testing with oral swabs and urinalysis. They send the specimens to outside labs for results. Drug testing leads to greater accountability and ensures that you’re an active partner in your recovery.
There are also drug free safety programs (DFSP) available for state funded employers. They can offer yearly employee and supervisor sessions to help employers prevent workplace use and misuse of drugs and alcohol.
