Located in the Highland Park neighborhood of Richmond, Virginia is the Richmond Behavioral Health Authority North Campus which houses the Men’s Residential Treatment Center (MRTC).
This treatment facility specializes in helping men work through an existing substance use disorder. Blending evidence based therapies and holistic therapies, you’ll approach recovery from a multifaceted process. You’ll move through an individualized treatment plan that incorporates everything from medically supervised withdrawal to addiction treatment to continuing care.
This facility is a supportive place to start your recovery from drug or alcohol use. They have a withdrawal management program that incorporates medically monitored withdrawal management to help manage symptoms from opioid or alcohol dependencies.
When your body is safely stabilized, you’ll move into your living quarters where you’ll work through treatment with peers, mentors, health professionals, and other support staff.
Medication support and evidence based practices help keep you grounded as you work through treatment here. However, it’s their therapeutic approaches that really allow you to make meaning out of the counseling and therapy services you receive.
You can look forward to a variety of activities here including support groups where you’ll cover popular topics like anger management, trauma education, and recovery skills development.
There are also recreational activities you can enjoy including evening gardening sessions as well as vocational and educational workshops.
While you learn the skills for addiction recovery here at the treatment program, it’s their aftercare support services where you’ll learn how to apply those skills in your everyday life. As you work through the program, you’ll be supported through ongoing care in a less restrictive environment such as outpatient treatment.
You can get referred to this step down care through the Richmond Behavioral Health Authority. You’ll also get connected to community 12 step programs and social supports like housing assistance for a stable place to call home once you leave the facility
