About River Place Counseling Center – Elk River
Riverplace Counseling Center is based in Anoka and Elk River, Minnesota. They have intensive outpatient programs for adult men who have substance abuse issues. Lodging is available in both locations, if needed. The program is divided into different phases that descale as you progress. There’s also a program for court ordered clients.
At the Anoka center, you’ll first attend a day program that consists of selected group sessions between 9am to 3pm on weekdays. There’s also individual counseling to focus on your specific treatment. Small discussion groups are used for peer support and to give you a close network that you can depend on when temptation occurs. The Anoka house has two bedrooms, three bathrooms, a living room with a 75” television, a fitness center, and a laundry room.
The second phase is based in Elk River. This section has a looser structure. This consists of shorter sessions between 8:45am to 12:40pm and small group sessions. The Elk River house was renovated in 2022, and features a log cabin style setting. It has three kitchens, three dining rooms, and two living rooms. There are five bedrooms, a laundry room, and a gym.
If you don’t want to stay at the lodging, there’s a regular intensive outpatient program that meets during the day and night. These meetings include men and women and are led by a counselor. They can include 12 Steps and group discussions.
The Change by Design program is for incarcerated clients who have more than 150 days in their sentence. The program consists of 12 weeks per phase and is intended for those who have a high risk of relapse or rearrest.
