About River Valley Behavioral health Children’s hospital – Owensboro

RiverValley Behavioral Hospital has a few different locations in Owensboro, Kentucky. The one on Industrial Drive is a mental health inpatient facility for children and adolescents aged 5-17. Generally patients only stay four to seven days to get stabilized before they are able to go home or enter longer term care.

Despite the short term stay, RiverValley is committed to making sure kids keep up with their education and physical activity, and the campus has a school, large gym, and lots of activity areas.

The Industrial Drive location doesn’t offer specific substance use treatment programs, but they can offer referrals to appropriate options. Also, there are several other RiverView clinics in Owensboro, including an outpatient clinic, crisis stabilization center, and a location where adults with mental health issues can get help with life skills, housing, jobs, and other things they need to live independent lives.

RiverValley has won quite a few awards for their high quality care, and clients say case managers are flexible and easy to work with and that the staff is truly caring and friendly.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

12-Step

12 step programs such as Alcoholics or Narcotics Anonymous are support group style programs for individuals who are experiencing alcohol or substance use disorder. At Evoke they use a holistic model of addiction care that includes using 12 step programs. These programs are an integral part of most relapse prevention plans and provide continued support and accountability that support sobriety.

24-Hour Clinical Care

24 hour clinical care provides close medical supervision for individuals in the early stages of recovery. Medical professionals monitor individuals around the clock for complications and provide immediate intervention when needed.

Aftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Inpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
