About Riverside County – Telecare Mental Health Treatment Center – Indio
Riverside County Mental Health Urgent Care (MHUC) and Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) is a short term crisis intervention center for youths and adult residents in Indio, California.
The program serves individuals experiencing acute mental health crises including those with co-occurring substance use disorders. Clients may be admitted voluntarily or they might be placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold under California Welfare and Institutions Code (WIC) 5150. All patients undergo comprehensive medical screening by CSU staff to determine if they’re medically stable for admission. Clients requiring more intensive crisis support following screening may be admitted into the adjacent Psychiatric Health Facility (PHF) for inpatient care.
Riverside County MHUC / CSU offers a safe, conducive and nonjudgmental setting where patients can get immediate and personalized support during a crisis.
The program serves as a non-restrictive alternative to inpatient hospitalization and aims to help clients avoid the need for higher levels of care. It is recovery focused, clinically effective and grounded in harm reduction techniques. Emphasis is placed on providing immediate crisis relief, restoring proper functioning and stabilizing symptoms. This is made possible through a coordinated effort of multidisciplinary professionals including psychiatric providers, nurses and social workers.
These experts will work with you every step of the way from the moment you arrive through the assessment and development of personalized treatment plans to crisis resolution. The program also involves psychiatric assessment, medication evaluation and management and tailored discharge.
