About Saint Lawrence County Community Services – Canton
St. Lawrence County Community Services is located in Canton, New York. They help people dealing with substance use disorder or SUD, mental health problems and developmental disabilities.
Here you can get help through outpatient mental health care, assessments, counseling, help with crisis intervention and psychiatric therapy and treatment. I noticed that they’ll treat children, adolescents, adults and whole families.
Their adult, children and youth outpatient program provides assessments, diagnosis and treatment to people dealing with mental illness or have a dual diagnosis with SUD. They have trained psychiatrists, nurses and licensed therapists along with a case management staff that are focussed on your mental health and substance abuse treatment.
They work with medication management and monitoring. They can help you with individual and group counseling sessions and have a care management team and can refer you to other services within the community.
They have an outpatient medication assisted treatment (MAT) program where they can prescribe long acting injectables like Clorazil if you’re battling severe mental illness. You’ll work with a psychiatrist and psychiatric nurse to administer and monitor your medication.
What I really like about this treatment center is that they make themselves available after hours and do outreach in the community. They have an after hours and emergency program called Reachout. It’s a free and confidential crisis and intervention hotline for St. Lawrence County residents. They offer supportive listening and even have a mobile crisis team that has trained counselors who go to people who are in at-risk locations around the county.
