About San Fernando Valley Community Mental Health Center – Independent Living – Los Angeles
The San Fernando Valley Community Mental Health Center offers multiple programs and treatment services for people of all ages from children to older adults. The programs include mental health and CARF accredited substance use disorder (SUD) treatment services and reentry programs. They have inpatient and outpatient programs at this facility in Los Angeles, California.
The facility is in the heart of the valley less than three miles from the Great Wall of Los Angeles, a collaborative mural art project on the concrete banks of the Tujunga Wash. If you or someone you love needs an outpatient SUD program, the program they have here is called Stepping Stones.
Stepping Stones is for adults, including those who are unhoused. This is an outpatient program for clients with a primary diagnosis of SUD. After a thorough intake assessment, clients receive counseling services. One of the main goals of the program is to assist clients with the functions necessary for independent living.
Clients receive assistance with accessing services appropriate to their care, some of which are external community resources. Clients may have staff accompany them to some services if necessary.
One of the unique things about this facility is the number of programs available. They have programs for everyone, including advocacy programs for children and young adults. One such program is the Bullying and School Violence Advocacy Program.
This is a free program that helps kids in kindergarten through 12th grade who are experiencing bullying. There’s a 24/7 helpline and in person or virtual consultations to ensure kids’ safety.
There are programs to help identify young people at risk for future mental health programs. Additionally, they offer child abuse treatment programs and wraparound services to provide integrated, multiagency care for children.
No matter your mental health needs, the center has an appropriate program. From serving people who are unhoused to helping kids in need to youth and adult addiction services, there is help available at this facility.
