About Sault Tribe Health Division – Manistique
Located in Manistique, Michigan is the Manistique Tribal Health Center. This is one of nine centers throughout the upper peninsula of Michigan that operate under the Sault Tribe Health Division. They serve residents throughout the region including members of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.
The treatment approach here stands out to me because they blend evidence based practices and clinical approaches with culturally competent care. Whether or not you’re part of the tribal community, you’ll find a range of treatment options to address your struggles with substance use, mental health, and other health ailments.
The behavioral health program here is robust and treats a range of ailments that fall under this category. If you’re struggling with substance use, their crisis intervention programs are a strong first step to help you in recovery.
From there you’ll move into a structured, culturally competent recovery plan that will help you succeed. Their plans are individualized and you can get referred to the Marie clinic if you need more robust support such as medication assisted treatment.
There are a host of clinical and holistic supports ranging from general medicine, dental services, and even acupuncture for smoking cessation.
These services can help you target your addiction recovery needs from a variety of angles. For example, if you have a co-occurring mental health struggle, targeted care for your mental health recovery needs will help improve your overall substance use recovery struggles.
This approach really targets the whole person which is something I find to be incredibly important when you work towards sustainable sobriety.
