About SCAN – Serving Children and Adults in Need – Pharr
SCAN stands for Serving Children and Adults in Need. They’re located in Pharr, Texas. They feature outpatient programs for youths between the ages of 13 and 17 who are struggling with addiction and behavioral issues. Using philosophies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational enhancement therapy (MET), youth are taught the skills to build a healthier future without drugs.
Their satellite office, Rio Grande Valley Outpatient Program, offers assessments that help lead to an individualized treatment program. This treatment plan will include case management services, individual therapy using CBT and MET models, family counseling and support groups for clients, parents, and caretakers.
They have other programs, too. There are HIV related services including awareness educational resources and assessments of risk. There are street outreach, home visitation and other community based support resources offered through this office in Pharr.
The program includes three CBT sessions and two MET sessions to help youth begin building positive goals and taking strides in understanding their emotions, addiction, and potential. Trained mental health and addiction specialists will help individuals through the recovery process from initial contact to successfully reaching therapy and life goals while living a sober life. All services in Pharr are on an outpatient basis.
