About Seaway Valley Prevention Council – Ogdensburg
Seaway Valley Prevention Council is a drug and alcohol rehab service. They are committed to educating the public about the dangers of substance use disorder and alcoholism. They focus largely on kids and teens. The staff can provide resources to people of all ages who struggle with substance use disorders.
They run several different programs designed to prevent drug use. They have group therapy treatment for teens who have been through traumatic experiences. Having peers to talk to can reduce the chances of a young person taking drugs to deal with a traumatic event. Elementary students can enjoy Seaway’s Too Good For Drugs program. The program teaches kids social and communication skills that can help them deal with issues in a mature way.
They have parenting classes for people who may have struggled with addiction issues. They have a teen intervention program aimed at students who may just be starting to use drugs and alcohol. It gives teens a chance to talk about their substance use in a nonjudgemental confidential environment.
Counselors will give kids coping mechanisms to avoid using substances in the future. The program is open to those between 12 and 17.
