Self-Help Addiction Rehab (SHAR) West Grand Boulevard is a drug and alcohol rehab center located in Detroit, Michigan. They treat people for substance use disorder and alcohol use disorder. They have both residential and outpatient services. They are a non for profit organization.
This facility has been treating people in the Detroit area since 1969. Their mission is to help socially and economically disadvantaged people with substance issues.
They provide a comfortable place for you to detox from drugs. You will be monitored constantly by a trained medical staff. It normally takes three or four days to detoxify but it may vary based on your body and the type of substances you have in your system.
They have a medically assisted treatment (MAT) program for people with opioid use disorder who have been clean for at least seven days. They will provide Vivitrol which can ease the pain of withdrawal and reduce cravings without the euphoric effect.
The residential program is 120 days long. They will provide an evaluation as well as group and individual therapy. They have gender specific treatment for women. You will be a case manager who will stay with you through every step of your journey.
They teach people social skills and educate them about the effects of drugs on your body. Your individual sessions are designed just for you. They have several different types of groups including those that are gender specific.
They also offer intensive outpatient and standard outpatient services if you don’t require around the clock care and supervision. They provide aftercare that includes peer support specialists who provide assistance with housing and employment.
They run a SHAR community service center that provides resources for people in the community. You will be able to find 12-step meetings and therapy resources there. Soon, they will house the SHAR Academy across the street. This location will offer wrap-around services to people who are in recovery.
The academy will function as a one-stop shop for addiction treatment services and will function as a comprehensive Community Center. People can visit this one-stop “Recovery Mall” to access a variety of recovery-related resources.
