About Serenity Point Counseling Services – Walla Walla
Serenity Point is an accredited mental health and addiction center that serves clients living in Walla Walla, Washington. Located right in the city, it is easy to access through public transportation. While they don’t have inpatient or residential treatment, they provide outpatient treatment for adults as well as children and adolescents.
Staff use a trauma-informed lens. This means they act as if the patient has pre-existing trauma, recognize the potential impact that could have, and work to build trust, avoid retraumatization, and create a safe space.
All staff have also completed training on co-occurring disorder treatment, so they know how to provide treatment for someone who is having struggles with both mental health and addiction. Something else that is cool about this center is that they have Spanish-speaking staff, so that eliminates that language barrier.
They lean heavily on the 12-step program here and also include motivational interviewing (MI) in their treatment approach. They believe that mental health and addiction are life-long struggles, and there needs to be a willingness of the person to want to change in the first place. That’s where MI comes into play. Clients are also given a case-worker to help guide them through treatment and connect them to community resources.
Programs include Family, Group, and Individual therapy along with outpatient and intensive outpatient programs (IOP) for addiction treatment. Afterward, there is relapse prevention support. They provide cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which helps change someone’s thinking patterns. They even do DUI assessments here.
They have what’s called a brief intervention treatment for mental health disorders meaning you can get mental health support without even having to commit to a program!
This facility is covered by Kaiser, Community Health Plan of Washington, Premera, Regence, Amerigroup, and Coordinated Care. I really like that they also have a sliding scale that allows even more people to receive care.
