About Sharp McDonald Center – San Diego
The Sharp McDonald Center is a substance use disorder treatment center located in San Diego, California. They offer inpatient and outpatient hospital-based treatment consisting of three phases of personalized treatment: admission and detox, rehabilitation, and continuing care. Inpatient clients are housed in a home-away-from-home in the facility with 16 beds, comfortably furnished, and provides plenty of outside space for calm reflection.
The type of treatment clients can expect at the Sharp McDonald Center includes case management, education about the nature of addiction and recovery, group and individual therapy, recreational groups, assertiveness training, and relapse prevention. They also provide medication-assisted treatment. This is where, under supervision, clients are prescribed medication to keep cravings at bay and/or manage mental health symptoms, which helps them engage fully with evidence-based treatments.
These evidence-based treatments include various therapy approaches such as trauma-focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy.
One of the great things about the Sharp McDonald Center is its Continuing Care program. To ensure the best chance of long-term sobriety, clients receive ongoing support after rehabilitation at no extra cost. The program helps clients solve issues to make the necessary transitions to reintegrate into everyday life, at work, at home, and in the community. Plus, weekly group sessions and alumni support help clients spot relapse signs and achieve their recovery goals.
