NFI Shelburne House is a residential program with a 1:1 staff to client ratio, providing intensive individualized treatment to young people between the ages of 13-18. We are a three-bed facility located on two acres in Williston, Vermont with ample outside space for exploration and play. NFI Shelburne House specializes in treating young people and their families in an effort to help them heal from developmental trauma. Our goal is to assist clients and families to identify what they want for their lives, and to help them take the appropriate steps to reach their goals. We understand that not all of our clients have involved families. In these cases, we work to identify longer term natural supports who can be in their lives beyond their engagement in treatment, such as mentors, foster parents, kinship, and adoptive families.
We operate from a strengths-based perspective, and believe our clients and their families are the experts on their lives. We offer individual, group and family therapy, 24-hour therapeutic milieu support, case management and psychopharmacology. Treatment focuses are individualized but often focus on emotional regulation, healthy relationships, daily living, social skills, healthy community integration, self-esteem, and discharge planning. Since we are a community-based setting, ideal referrals are clients who have developed the ability to maintain safe behaviors towards self and others.
