About Shepherds House – Lexington
The idea for Shepherds House began in 1984 with a member of the Good Shepherd Episcipal Church when his son needed a halfway house after substance abuse treatment. Today, Shepherds House serves men and women in the Lexington, Kentucky area who need recovery housing.
They base their program on the 12 Step philosophy. They provide individual therapy, community living, employment and daily tasks to help you learn how to live sober at your own pace. They have programs specifically for men as well as ones for both men and women.
The residential program for men is designed to last between 12 and 18 months. During this time you’ll have a house manager, access to group and one on one therapy and 90 meetings in an AA/NA program during your first 90 days. You’re required to work 30 hours a week. Shepherds House helps with your job search. During your stay, you will progress through different phases as you progressively have more freedom and access to more amenities such as cell phone use and car access.
Rent includes room, board and all the programming. You’ll get preference if you’re coming from a 28-30 day residential treatment program.
Their Learning to Live program is for both men and women. It’s a six month outpatient program that is offered as an alternative to serving a jail sentence. Day or evening sessions are available depending on your needs.
