About Signature Health – ORCA House – Cleveland
This Signature Health – ORCA House is one of two Signature Health residential treatment centers located in Cleveland, Ohio. Opened in 1942, ORCA House is one of the oldest substance use disorder treatment centers in the country dedicated to treating African-American individuals.
One floor operates as a 20-bed unit treating substance use disorders, specifically for individuals who have an opioid use disorder or alcohol addiction. The program emphasizes intense group therapy and medication assisted treatment (MAT) to address withdrawal and cravings from opioids and alcohol addiction.
The unit is uniquely qualified to accept you for admission after an inpatient hospitalization that may have addressed a substance use disorder and a heart condition called endocarditis. This is a potentially fatal condition in which the heart valves are infected and inflamed.
Endocarditis is associated with IV drug use and requires specialized care to prevent permanent heart damage or death. Admission is only considered after referral from a qualified mental health professional. Referrals are reviewed carefully before clients are admitted.
They also offer short-term mental health residential treatment when you need a higher level of care after crisis stabilization or an inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. They are available if a partial hospitalization outpatient program does not provide enough monitoring and structure to treat your mental health condition. Care is provided in a home-like environment that emphasizes individual growth and development so you can transition back to your home life.
Signature Health is a federally qualified Health Center and nonprofit organization that has provided services across Northeast Ohio for the last 30 years. They are CARF accredited and receive grants from various medical and insurance foundations, including Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation and the American Heart Association.
They accept Medicare and Medicaid plans but are not in network for most commercial health insurance. You may qualify for a sliding scale fee program based on your household income.
