About SIH Harrisburg Medical Center – Behavioral Health – Harrisburg
SIH Harrisburg Medical Center is a hospital that provides behavioral health services for adults needing assistance with mental health and substance use disorders. They’re located on the eastern side of Harrisburg near the Shawnee Hills Country Club. A few of the services featured at this location include crisis intervention as well as their Narcan distribution and harm reduction service.
One of the things I like the most about SIH Harrisburg Medical Center is their anti stigma campaign. It’s a program designed to encourage more individuals to seek treatment for mental illnesses and substance use disorder. They promote services such as the mental health crisis line and the Illinois Opioid Helpline to increase their use within the community.
In conjunction with other SIH hospitals, Harrisburg Medical Center will help individuals gain access to Narcan and other harm reduction services. Some of the harm reduction services that may be offered to the community include needle exchanges and safe disposal programs. These types of programs can reduce overdose fatalities and HIV transmission and other complications of addiction so people are safer until they’re ready to get treatment.
