About South Shore Association – Community Treatment – Baldwin

South Shore Association is now SAIL. They’re based in Baldwin, New York. This is a nonprofit organization that provides essential services to people with developmental disabilities and mental health. Everything they do is aimed at making the lives of those they work with better by giving people what they need to live life as best and independently possible.

Apart from the residential assistance, which offers secure and caring living arrangements for disabled individuals. SSA also provides numerous day programs and employment services available. These programs are intended to be a platform through which people can learn new skills, explore their passions and prepare for meaningful employment. With job training, supported employment opportunities and recreational activities, the organization does everything it can to help each individual achieve his or her personal best.

Another great program offered is the ACT(Assertive Community Treatment). It is all about providing hands-on, community-based mental health care for individuals who have severe mental illness.

Unlike the more traditional outpatient services, the ACT program steps in for those who have difficulty staying on track with their mental health. Another great thing about this program is that it is built around a team approach.

They have professionals such as psychiatrists, social workers, nurses and vocational specialists who create a personalized program to meet the need of each individual. It is not just about managing symptoms but helping people regain control of their lives that works for them. The ACT team is very involved within the community which helps with individuals who are on the fence about working in a more traditional setting.

The staff at SAIL has a compassionate, devoted manner. The staff truly seem to care about every individual they support, we regularly receive excellent feedback from family members as well clients on how our service has improved. What many appreciate is the care and personalized attention given to each resident, making for a loving and nurturing environment.

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
