About Southeastern Mental Health Authority – Norwich
Southeastern Mental Health Authority provides mental and behavioral health care for children, teens, and adults in Norwich, Connecticut. This includes a dedicated program designed to treat substance use disorder. They provide a range of services that vary in intensity, including residential treatment, crisis intervention, outpatient counseling, and community outreach. They accept self pay, commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid.
They reserve their residential unit for people who need to be stabilized but aren’t suitable for a psychiatric hospital. During your time here, you’ll interact with a multidisciplinary team of nurses, counselors, social workers, and mental health specialists. They’ll provide round the clock care and will discuss your progress at weekly team meetings. You can attend those meetings on your own or bring your family members with you.
Those who need a lower level of care can enroll in their outpatient treatment program. While all plans are unique, yours may include a combination of individual and group therapy, medication management, and psychiatric care. During each therapy session, you’ll engage in evidence based practices such as dialectical behavioral therapy and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing.
