Southern Highlands Community Mental Health Center offers mental health and substance use disorder treatment in Princeton, West Virginia. Treatments available at this location include medication assisted treatment and peer recovery support. The facility accepts all insurance including Medicaid.
The center provides office based medication assisted treatment to help you with your recovery while allowing you time outside of the facility to learn how to live a sober lifestyle. The medications that can be administered to you are Suboxone and Vivitrol. These addiction medicines are designed to decrease your cravings and minimize uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms if you have opioid addiction or alcohol addiction.
You’ll be required to participate in individual and group counseling as you’re taking the medication. Therapy can help you address the possible causes of your addiction, such as trauma, anger or relationship stress. Your counselor will help you identify what your triggers are and develop healthy coping mechanisms such as building a support system or finding a hobby.
All clients will have access to peer recovery support services. Your peer support specialist can share their experiences with overcoming addiction and also offer you guidance in finding resources to strengthen your recovery.
Princeton offers unique activities to enjoy whether you want to be indoors or outdoors. The Princeton Railroad museum has exhibits and memorabilia showing the history of the railroad. When you’re ready to spend some time outside to relax, you can visit Glenwood Recreational Park, which features a 55 acre lake and multiple trails.
