About Spectrum Youth and Family Services – Burlington
Based in Burlington, Vermont, Spectrum Youth and Family Services is a nonprofit organization that specializes in offering social and health services to young people and their families in the Burlington and St. Albans areas.
Opened way back in 1970 this organization is recognized for its services for young people aged 12 to 26 and their families. Every year they provide support to as many as 1,400 teens, young adults, and family members. Their goal is to empower young people to make and sustain positive change for healthier and happier lives. They do this by offering intervention and prevention services and life skills education.
Their prevention and intervention services are specifically for helping young people and families address mental health and substance abuse issues that may be affecting their lives. Part of their offering includes addiction treatment in the form of counseling, mentoring, and stabilization services for individuals and families who’ve reached crisis point.
They also provide individuals with basic needs aid and supportive housing options. Things like laundry services and meals are available here to those who need them, as well as supportive housing residencies to keep young people off the streets. In this way, they can access temporary shelter for months or even years while they get back on their feet and build their lives back from the ground up.
Their health center also offers appointments and walk in medical and counseling services for individuals up to 25 years. Their counseling and psychiatry services specifically may include connection with and referrals for substance use and addiction treatment if needed. STI screenings and preventative health care are also available here.
