About Springfield Comprehensive Treatment Center – Springfield
Springfield Comprehensive Treatment Center is part of the Comprehensive Treatment Center Opioid Use Disorder Programs network. This outpatient facility is on Columbus Avenue in Springfield, Massachusetts. The center offers treatment for opioid use and co occurring mental health disorders. They accept adults 18 and older and specialize in medication assisted treatment (MAT). The center takes state and public funding, Medicare, Medicaid, self pay, and most commercial insurance.
After an assessment, the team develops a customized treatment plan to facilitate recovery. The team helps people with any type of opioid addiction such as heroin or prescription painkillers. The MAT offered at this clinic is methadone maintenance. Methadone is an evidence based treatment with a long history of safety. During the induction phase of your treatment, when you’re first taking methadone, you’ll be closely monitored by licensed medical staff for any side effects.
The nice thing about methadone is you don’t have to fear withdrawal symptoms. The methadone alleviates some of the worst symptoms of detox while allowing you to continue with normal activities. Some people wean off the methadone while others stay on it long term.
One of the most important components of any drug treatment program is counseling to address the emotional aspects of addiction. Addiction counselors are trained to help you identify the underlying causes of your substance use. They do this through treatment modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).
These therapies focus on connecting your thoughts and actions to identify negative beliefs and thought patterns. The goal is to promote more positive behavior patterns. You’ll also learn to better regulate your emotions and become mindful of your substance use triggers so you can avoid or manage them.
You’ll also participate in group counseling led by a professional. Many of the groups address specific topics such as conflict resolution or anger management. Other groups are educational and help you better understand the ways that addiction affects your health and life. Group therapy not only gives you support but also teaches you how to support and interact with others in similar situations. You’ll leave the program prepared to continue with life long sobriety.
