About Square Medical Group – Newton

Since 2008, Square Medical Group has been providing behavioral health services across Massachusetts. Their Newton location is one of several outpatient clinics they run. Located in Nonantum on the third story of a red brick medical building which is easy to get to via public buses.

They offer substance use disorder treatment including for folks who have co-occurring disorders. Clients can access in person and telehealth services from this clinic.

I like that Square Medical Group provides several medication options for MAT patients. By replacing opioids with a daily or monthly medication, patients are able to feel clear-headed and functional so they can make smart choices free from the pull of addiction.

Combined with counseling and other support, MAT is a highly effective treatment for addiction. Square Medical Group offers buprenorphine in film, tablet or injectable forms. They also provide naltrexone which is an injectable medication that you only need once monthly.

I like that they offer both partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient levels of care. These ensure that you get the support and frequency you need to make lasting changes.

Their partial hospitalization program is offered in person and is their most intensive level of outpatient care. Group sessions focus on relapse prevention, managing depression and anxiety symptoms, recovering from trauma, and building healthy relationships.

They also offer yoga and meditation to promote mind-body wellness. Square Medical Group offers a virtual IOP three mornings a week. Clients can combine their group participation with individual therapy, MAT or both.

Programs

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Military Program

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
