About Steppingstone Supportive – Rochester
YWCA’s Steppingstone Supportive Living Residential Treatment Program serves the recovery needs of women transitioning to independent living after high intensity treatment in Rochester, New York. It’s particularly suitable for women who seek long-term supportive and supervised settings to build sober skills prior to establishing independent community living. Priority is given to pregnant women in recovery.
One of their most important attributes is that they support moms and their children in recovery. That is you’re allowed to bring your children aged 12 and under to live with you onsite. The kids benefit from drop-in childcare as you navigate recovery. Allowing mom and child to heal this way strengthens parents-child bonding. This aligns with the program goals of assisting women, their children and family heal together while building strong coping skills.
They offer tailored group and individual counseling that is strength based and trauma informed. During these sessions experienced staff will assist you in overcoming the impact of substance use, trauma and domestic violence. Through interaction with peers and social activities, you’ll form strong relationships, eliminate isolation and strengthen your support network. The program promotes personal responsibility and challenges you to work on your healing.
You’ll be equipped with the tools and skills necessary to boost your self-esteem and self-confidence. You’ll also learn how to manage anger, solve problems and resolve conflicts. These are recipes for maintaining a sober lifestyle free from drugs. The program is highly confidential and sensitive to women’s needs. The staff will assist you with referrals to community services that’ll benefit your recovery as you move forward. These may include vocational programs, permanent housing and medical care.
