About Stewart and Lynda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA – Los Angeles
Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital is part of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) health system. Treatment is available for clients of all ages with developmental disabilities and psychiatric disorders. There’s a specialized dual diagnosis program for clients with substance use and co occurring mental health disorders. The hospital accepts insurance from many providers, including PPOs, HMOs, and Medicare fee for service.
In the heart of Westwood, less than 10 miles from the Santa Monica Pier is a unique dual diagnosis program. The program’s founder is a psychiatrist in recovery who understands the challenges faced by clients with substance use and concurrent mental health issues.
The doctor views addiction as a solution to a mental health problem that then becomes its own problem. Treatment providers in the program work to help clients identify their underlying mental health disorders so they can then address their addiction.
The hospital provides private rooms for the majority of patients. The rooms have large windows for natural light and an outdoor view of green spaces. There are many healing outdoor spaces where they conduct much of the group therapy.
Additionally, the hospital has psychiatry programs for children. Specialty programs include the treatment of obsessive compulsive, autism spectrum, and ADHD disorders. There’s also a special geriatric acute care unit.
