About Sunrise Lodge – Substance Abuse Treatment Center – Russellville
Riverbend Center for Mental Health, formerly known as Sunrise Lodge, provides professional medical and rehabilitative services for the diagnosis and treatment of mental illnesses, substance use, and emotional conditions in Florence, Alabama.
Riverbend Center for Mental Health offers residential treatment, intensive outpatient, and aftercare services.
The residential program at Riverbend is a men’s treatment program that caters to those who need a high level of structure and support at the beginning of their recovery. Individual, group, and family therapy, along with psycho-educational classes on topics related to addiction are offered. Themes include skill-building, self-esteem, and stress-management techniques.
Riverbend’s intensive outpatient program requires a minimum of 12 hours per week of treatment services. Programming is based on the 12 Steps and traditional clinical treatment modalities. These treatments include individual and group therapy, family therapy, and educational classes.
For those who participate and graduate from the residential or intensive outpatient programming at Riverbend, aftercare programming is available. This allows connection with other like-minded individuals who have committed to living a life of recovery. Support groups and peer connections help continue to deepen the recovery process.
Dual Diagnosis, often referred to as having co-occurring disorders, is when two or more mental health concerns present themselves simultaneously. It is very common for those who struggle with addiction to also have an underlying mental health concern such as anxiety, depression, or a diagnosable psychiatric disorder. Without proper treatment of the mental health issue at hand, getting and staying sober can be difficult. By treating both the substance use disorder and the mental health needs concurrently, a greater chance for long-term sobriety is achieved.
The 12-Step program is a common recovery model based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a plan for recovery based in a Higher Power. Middle steps include self-examination and making amends to those who’ve been hurt by the addiction. The later steps include continuing to take personal inventory while living a life of recovery and supporting others in doing the same. Additional 12-Step groups include Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA), and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
