About The Children’s Center of Hamden – Hamden
For more than 185 years, The Children’s Center of Hamden has helped children and their families. Located in Hamden, Connecticut, they are a psychiatric residential treatment facility, a K-12 school, a home for women with intellectual disabilities, and a center for outpatient and afterschool programs.
Their psychiatric residential program is for boys and girls ages 7-16 years who have complex psychiatric symptoms.
The Wakeman Hall Clinic offers substance screening, treatment and recovery. Youth will take part in one on one counseling sessions as well as family therapy. They’ll also connect your family with other service providers when needed.
Their K-12 school is made up of classrooms with 10 or fewer students. On top of typical educational curriculum, students will have one hour-long counseling session per week plus access to a token system that offers them positive reinforcement. They also have a summer program for all grades including a credit recovery option for high schoolers.
Casa Rios is a home for women who have intellectual disabilities. Residents learn independent living skills and get vocational help.
