About The Edna House for Women – Cleveland
Founded in 2004, the Edna House in Cleveland, Ohio, is a nonprofit sober living house for women. Focused on simplicity and structured daily life, they’re dedicated to helping women reclaim their dignity and self respect.
With teachings rooted in the 12 step program of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), they believe that all women deserve treatment regardless of their ability to pay. At Edna House you stay until you’re healed. There’s no maximum length of stay or number of times women can reenter their program.
Phase One of treatment lasts three months and is dedicated to communal living. With six daily group sessions and nightly 12 step meetings, women dedicate themselves entirely to recovery. GED courses are offered for those who need them.
Visitations are allowed after two weeks in the program. Phase Two is also three months in length, characterised by in house job training and employment assistance. During this time you’ll be in a private room, participating in six AA meetings per week. Phase Three transitions to off site housing and the opportunity to be a part of their alumni program.
At close to 300 members, their alumnae association is made up of women who have successfully completed at least six months in residential treatment. Through volunteer work and peer support, they strive to create a community of lifelong sisterhood by giving freely what was given to them.
The group offers their time with a strong belief in recovery, new beginnings, and second chances. They meet monthly to discuss projects and upcoming events.
