About The Friendship Connection – Jackson
Center for Independent Learning – The Friendship Connection is a residential facility focused on helping women who are suffering from mental health issues and substance abuse. They are located in Jacksonville, Mississippi.
Their primary mission is to create a substance free environment and community. This can be seen as its own form of therapy since having a sense of community brings a sense of grounding to people. They have a rule called the third place and it’s something that helps most people. As you can guess from the name, community takes the third place in your life. Places one and two are typically reserved for work and or school as well as home.
When people contribute to their communities they become more invested in the community. What’s nice about this community is that they also give you access to employment assistance. While you build your community you can build your network, which then helps you rebuild your two other places.
This residential program can last several months. People who have gone here have mentioned that this program can be hard but it works.
