About The Harris Center Northwest Community Service Center – Houston
The Northwest Service Center is part of the Harris Center network. They’re based in Houston, Texas, and have outpatient care for substance abuse and mental health issues. They primarily serve adults and selected clients under court order. Children and juveniles may be referred to other Harris Center sites.
Their outpatient program primarily features traditional counseling and therapy. There’s a case management team made up of nurses, physicians, and social workers to coordinate your care. Approaches include cognitive behavioral therapy, substance abuse education, and learning new life skills. Medication management is also offered, and harm reduction kits may be available.
In addition to therapy, social services are also available. You may be eligible for housing, basic necessities, job training and placement, and programs to limit your tobacco use. Transportation to and from the center is also featured if your mobility is limited.
The substance abuse program also includes detox, although it is housed in another facility in Houston. Space is limited with only eight beds available. You can be referred to the program if your condition is acute.
