About The Lovelady Center – Birmingham

The Lovelady Center is a faith based residential substance use recovery program for women in Birmingham, Alabama. This long term residential program empowers women through Christian centered recovery initiatives. This helps them reintegrate into society as self-sufficient individuals with the skills to lead fulfilling lives. It’s all about hope and belief in the humanity of the vulnerable women they serve. These women include pregnant and postpartum women, moms with young children and single ladies.

The program leans heavily toward court ordered initiatives including jail diversion, supervised reentry and supervised release. This makes it beneficial to women on probation, parole and other judicial supervision. Voluntary clients from the general population are also very much welcomed. The program involves a phased process that lasts between nine and 12 months depending on when you accomplish your recovery objectives. However, residents coming directly from prison may qualify for a six month reentry program.

Their recovery approach integrates Christian based models and proven treatment methods. You’ll participate in various groups and individual counseling sessions. This is in addition to classes on spirituality, continuing education and job readiness. Emphasis is on developing solid coping mechanisms and life skills that prevent relapse. You’ll learn self care and better ways to manage stress and anger. They’ll also teach you financial and household management as well as parenting. The spiritual component involves connecting to God via daily prayer, Bible study and regular attendance at chapel or church services. So, you’ll not just gain practical skills but experience profound spiritual growth.

You must satisfy certain expectations to graduate. This includes acquiring at least 34 Loveday credits. Loveday credits are their way of measuring your recovery effort and commitment to your individualized plans. You must also obtain 34 continuing education credits and a GED if applicable. Other expectations are having a housing plan, clearing up pending legal issues and obtaining state issued identity documents.

Keep in mind that you must adhere to all program rules throughout your stay including maintaining sobriety. Their aftercare services involve ongoing support that matches your changing needs. This may include housing, employment assistance and referral to peer support groups. Comments from past clients reflect overall positive experiences and impressive quality of care.

Programs

Adult Program

Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Military Program

Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Young Adult Program

Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
