About The Salvation Army Harbor Light Center – Pittsburgh
Located north of downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, just blocks away from the Ohio River and the Andy Warhol Museum is the Salvation Army Harbor Light Center.
This is a long term residential treatment facility that serves men aged 18 and older. This center provides a safe and supportive place for men to live as they work through substance abuse and co-occurring mental health struggles impacting their lives.
The Harbor Light Center serves almost as a flagship location because it’s the Salvation Army’s only substance abuse disorder program that’s licensed by the state throughout Western Pennsylvania’s 28 counties.
This program is available to qualifying men free of charge. It has had a lasting impact on the men who walk through this program’s doors and decide to take back control over their lives. It’s also helped reunify families as this is one of the main goals behind the Salvation Army’s mission.
The Harbor Light Center has experience working with men from all walks of life. If you’ve experienced homelessness, have fallen on difficult times and have coped with drugs and alcohol, or are looking for a community that can support you through this transitional time in your life, the Harbor Light Center can help you.
The staff is compassionate and kind, offering judgment free support that serves you in the way you need.
The Salvation Army is one of the nation’s most prominent faith based organizations that supports adults battling a substance abuse disorder. As such, you can expect that you’ll be encouraged to participate in fellowship, faith based counseling, and other therapies that encourage you to tap into a higher power for support when you need it.
The Salvation Army has deep ties within the local community. One way this is recognized is through their work therapy program in which residents get the chance to build relevant real world skills by working in the Salvation Army thrift shop.
At the Harbor Light Center, you’ll have access to social services that can help address housing and food insecurities impacting your life. Enrolling in these programs takes care of basic living needs so that you can focus your attention fully on your recovery journey.
