About Three Rivers Midlands – Residential Services – West Columbia
Three Rivers Midlands – Residential Services is a mental and behavioral health facility located in West Columbia, South Carolina. The organization provides residential care and partial hospitalization services, including drug rehab, for youth ages 6 to 21 who are struggling with psychiatric illnesses, substance use, or both. The TRICARE certified residential programs are open to youth ages 11 and up. Two of these programs are gender specific and the other two are coed.
Kids and adolescents involved in residential treatment receive 24/7 supervision and care in this 64-bed facility. Rather than solely focusing on participants’ behavioral issues, staff seek to help clients achieve overall well being so they can lead happy, healthy and community oriented lives. Participants may stay in residential treatment anywhere from two weeks to six months, depending on their needs.
KARS (Kids Achieving Resilience and Success Program) is a short-term, co-ed program for participants struggling with significant behavioral, cognitive, emotional, familial or social functioning. Staff use the Kimochis program to equip kids with the tools they need to cope with emotions in a healthier manner.
KEYS (Knowledge and Excellence for Youth Success) is another short-term, co-ed program for youth 11 and up. It’s not appropriate for participants whose primary diagnosis is substance use, but it is suitable for those with a secondary diagnosis of addiction.
New Horizons is the female-only residential treatment program for girls 11 and up with severe problems, such as substance use, that may endanger themselves or others. In addition to therapy, participants receive basic life skills training to help them live independently after treatment. The Synergy program is just like New Horizons, but for males only.
Kids at the facility also all have access to therapeutic activities, including outings, bowling, movies and events like talent shows and Friendsgiving. Additionally, they take part in online classes from Acellus Academy, a reputable and accredited institution, to ensure they don’t fall behind in their studies.
