About Tri County Human Services – Avon Park
Tri County Human Services has multiple services and locations throughout the Florida area, including The Florida Center for Addictions and Dual Disorders located on College Drive in Avon Park, Florida. The facility is on a lush campus of several acres abutting South Florida State College and serves adults from every county in Florida. This is a CARF accredited 55 bed residential facility that treats substance use disorder and dual diagnosis disorders. The facility accepts many private insurance plans. They also accept Medicaid HMOs. However, they do not accept Medicare plans.
You’ll have a substance use and mental health assessment upon admittance to the program. You’ll also have a psychiatric evaluation. If deemed appropriate, you may be put on medication for your dual diagnosis such as depression or bipolar disorder.
After your evaluation and assessments you’ll receive an individualized treatment plan. They also offer HIV screening if you need it.
The program includes different types of therapies including individual and group counseling. Counseling is important in any substance use treatment program to help you get to the root cause of your substance use. Health education and recreation therapy are also part of the residential treatment program.
They also offer a level II gender specific program for men who present with a primary substance use disorder. In this program you’ll follow the same treatment protocols as those at the Florida Center. There’s also a level III program that’s short term and helps you transition back to your community.
The Avon Park location also offers outpatient services including counseling for minors (ages 4 to 17) and adults. They offer psychiatric services for dual diagnosis patients and aftercare services for those with substance use disorder.
Clients have reported that their care was amazing and the support staff was good. However, others have expressed frustration with long wait times for appointments.
