About Tropical Texas Behavioral Health — Peer Drop In Center – Harlingen
TTBH – Tropical Texas Behavioral Health is a Joint Commission accredited behavioral health consortium with many locations across Texas. The Peer Drop In Center on G Street in Harlingen is for adolescents and adults looking for substance use disorder treatment. They also offer help for people with dual diagnosis.
The center accepts Medicare and Medicaid. They also take many insurance plans. They have a sliding fee scale if you’re uninsured and they won’t refuse you treatment even if you can’t pay.
There are detox services for adolescents and adults. The substance use treatment program provides an assessment and referral services if necessary. For instance, if you need inpatient care, they can refer you to another resource.
The Drop In Center has outpatient and intensive outpatient substance use treatment programs. They’re open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The center works to maximize access to substance use treatment programs, especially for priority populations.
The priority populations are pregnant women using injectable drugs and pregnant women who need addiction treatment. Any individuals injecting substances and those at high risk of relapse are a high priority as well as individuals working with the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS).
You don’t have to be in the priority population to seek treatment at the TTBH Drop In Center. The outpatient and intensive outpatient programs are great if you’re looking for a structured setting to help with your sobriety. The center uses local facilities to help provide mental health services while in the recovery process. The mental health services help with any dual diagnosis such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety.
They also offer telemedicine options if you’re more comfortable with that or can’t get to the clinic. The hours of operation are the same for the telemedicine options as for the clinic.
