About Tulare County Health and Human Services – Adult Mental Health – Porterville
Tulare County Health and Human Services, located in Porterville, California, offers substance abuse recovery and dual diagnosis care to adults, youth, and families who feel the need for help. They offer culturally responsive services to both English and Spanish speaking clients and those that are Deaf or hard of hearing. They also provide specialized care for pregnant women and postpartum women. Their programs are publicly funded and you can get treatment at low or no cost based on your needs.
Something that stands out to me is their 24 hour mental health crisis line and their 24 alcohol and substance abuse line.
Their services include outpatient care and aftercare. They also offers peer to peer support services, which I find interesting and more favorable than many traditional clinical programs as you can call your peer if you are struggling instead of always having to tell your counselor what is going on. Peers can also keep each other accountable in their sobriety.
One former client has stated that they were very helpful and saved their life. Some former clients complain though about their admissions policies and qualification standards.
